Cold nights are keeping the water cold on the Root. You don't need to get going in a hurry in the morning and in fact our best fishing has been in the mid to late afternoon. Not much on top yet, but we are seeing neumora's and midges. Skwala's will be just around the corner, once things warm up and the day continue to get longer. Nymphing the deep runs, inside bends and slow tailouts has been our go to method for the last few months. Pink/Red San Jauns, Eggs, Double Bead Stones, Princes, PTs and Rubberlegs. Streamer fishing will get better as the water warms, although there have been a few moments of greatness on cloudy days and in the later afternoons. Our favorite colors have been white, olive and yellow.
