Blackfoot River at Bonner

Daily River Report

July 28, 2014

Spruce Moth's are in the Canyon and will be seen on the mid to lower river any day.  Remember these aren't aquatic insects.  They are hatching in the tree's.  So, they don't move up or down river, they are sporadic.  A sz 14 - 16 pearl bodied Elk Hair Caddis or Goddard Caddis will work for the Spruce Moth's.  We also have some custom flies here in the shop that work great during this hatch.  The takes are aggresive!  Attractors dries like Turk's Tarantula, Royal Wolf's, Stimi's, Puple Hazes and Humpies are great in the afternoon's.  Drop a PT off the back and be ready.  Hoppers are starting to catch fish as well.  Try a tan or pink Yeti Hopper, Panty Dropper or More or Less Hopper.  A Chubby with a Rubberlegs droppers is another good searching pattern.
